Nashbar Single-Speed 29er Mountain Bike Review

I replaced a superb Single-Speed 29er Mountain Bike by Nashbar hounder with this even better bike. Just like the hounder, it got here rapidly, was packed amazingly properly, and took a couple of quick minutes to assemble. There was a bit extra meeting required right here as I additionally had to get the rear wheel, chain, and many others sorted as well as the front and rear brakes. Just like the hounder, attaching the front wheel and stem/bars was extremely simple. Two small misses: there was a zip tie required however not included for routing the front brake cable and one of many 4 included v-brake boss caps was painted a unique colour then the rest which matched the stunning finish of the bike. I contacted customer service and whereas they promised to ship me a substitute gold cover, it was not ever delivered. No huge deal I guess. I could not even bring myself to subtract a star since they have been no less than nice and potentially useful about it. The frame is unbelievable high quality, lightweight and rugged. I really feel like I might bomb off a pretty good drop with this setup, yet it looks like, rolls great, and handles nicely, even being more maneuverable than I had anticipated for this, my first 29er.
The bike is single pace, which meets my requirement for low upkeep, and the front and rear disc brakes are excellent. They've good modulation and amazing stopping. Mechanical disc brakes have come a great distance since I last tried them. Even the price range tektros are fantastic. Little tricky to work out the set up, however as soon as adjusted, they're great. the cable housings are a gorgeous metallic color and the remainder of the bike is black which creates a nice impact with the subdued gold color. The underside bracket and crank are very top quality and look fantastic. Not too positive about the clear plastic guard on the chainring, nevertheless it does a reasonable job of retaining my pantleg out of the toothy bits. Drivetrain is smooth and engages well. I really feel like this bike is every bit as good in high quality as any medium quality rig I've purchased through the years on the $800-$a thousand value point. Easily ten occasions better than a comparable one hundred-200 bike that would sit proper next to this one. Tires and wheels are cheap and sturdy, the one low cost looking half on the complete bike is the very utilitarian bolts which secure the wheels in place.
I had the concept I was going to order a bunch of fancy components and get this thing wanting all custom and light, but the reality is, I could spend a whole bunch and it wouldn't be an excessive amount of lighter or better looking than it came right out of the box. Some skinny pedals might be the one factor I'd change right away. Kudos to Nashbar Single-Speed 29er Mountain Bike for an awesome looking bike of amazing high quality and value.
